I love shopping!

Last night I had a great time with a friend - we went out for Chinese and then went to several scrapbooking stores looking for prizes for our next scrapbooking event!

We had an $80 budget - it's so much fun shopping with someone else's money LOL! We found tons of great deals! My favorite was a 8x8 paper pack that included punch outs and really fun colors. I got one in Mango and one in Pear. They were only $1.99 each!!

I also got a new cutter. I haven't been happy with my new Fiskars cutter so I decided to buy a Cricut brand. I think I might be returning it - when I got it home, I realized that you have to lift up the blade holder every time you want to cut something. The other cutters I've had have had a swivel blade holder that is much easier to use. I had a coupon and the cutter was only $5.99, so maybe I'll just keep it!

I'm looking forward to our scrapbooking day on February 13th!

Scrapbook Saturday

Yeah - I get to go scrapbooking on Saturday! I belong to a group of women who get together once a month during the school year to scrapbook. We meet on five Friday nights and four Saturdays and have a lot of fun! My chance of scrapbooking this weekend was on the edge, because we have a lot of other things going on - Missy has basketball from 8:30 - 9:45 Satuday morning. Buddy has a basketball tournament out of town (about 40 minutes away) Saturday morning. Saturday night Hubby and Buddy are going to the Minnesota Timberwolves game. So I didn't know how I was going to fit scrapbooking into the schedule. As the week has gone on, however, my schedule has become more open than before -- I'll still take Missy to basketball, but I found out that Buddy's "tournament" is really only one scrimmage, not an all day affair, so I feel justified in missing it. I will probably have to bring Missy to scrapbooking with me for awhile in the morning, but a good friend of mine (who is also one of my scrapbooking pals) asked her husband if he wouldn't mind having one more little girl for the evening, so Missy will go to their house for a sleepover with one of her best friends. How cool is that!

The last time I attended an all day scrapbooking session (in November), my 80 year old mom had an accident and had to go to the hospital and our dog was hacking all day and I ended up taking him to the emergency vet at midnight, after I got home from scrapbooking. I think I'll turn my phone off this time so nothing can interrupt me!

Scrapbook Day

I realized that since I started this blog, I haven't written about one of my passions - scrapbooking!! Saturday we had an all day scrapbooking event. I'm a member of a group of about 25 women who get together on a monthly basis during the school year. We meet on five Friday nights and four Saturdays throughout the year. Saturday was our first all day event of the year - we were there from 9:00am to 11:00pm.

I got a lot done! All of my friends marvel at the speed that I can get pages done. I don't know - maybe I'm just less picky than they are. Plus I try to plan ahead and have an idea of what I'd like my pages to look like. Saturday I was working on a brand new album that I'm making from our trip to Guatemala in August. I've always done my scrapbooks in a chronological format, but for our Guatemala trip, I decided to do it more on a "subject" basis instead of chronologically. So I did pages on the architecture, on the plants and flowers, on the dogs that run around everywhere, etc. I think it's turning out pretty well. I ended up getting 21 pages done!!

It's surprising that I got so much done, given the other stresses that cropped up on Saturday. Check my other blog, Chatty Chica, if you'd like to hear what else happened on Saturday!
